The reason Windowed Mode alt-tabbing is instant is because it isn't dependant on your resolution, and swapping between Fullscreen and your desktop forces you to switch resolution if your refresh Rate, bitrate or resolution (in WoW) is different from the desktop. You have no clue what you're talking about and you're obviously not a software developer, so please refrain from making stupid comments like this.
And while you may not notice a difference all the time, if your computer is sub-par for WoW you will notice a difference at heavy, intense times. Windowed mode forces your computer to render both WoW, and the background, which is why tabbing out and brining apps to the forground is instant.
